Thanks for visiting!

I have been such a bad blogger… I admit it. CHA kicked my booty while I was there and once I got home. But it was so fun getting to see old friends and make new ones during the make n takes in the Maya Road booth. Which if you weren’t there and don’t know… it was INSANE I tell ya. Fun but insane. Everyone loved using the new Maya Mists so much that we scrapped our day 3 make n take and did an improv Maya Mists make n take.

I must admit I am pretty stuck on the new Maya Mists as well. The coverage of these mists is incredible and the fun part is they have 8 colors (black, brown, blue, green, red, orange, pink and purple) that gives off a matte finish and 3 metallics (gold, silver and copper) that have the best shimmer. So if you want to add some sparkle you can lightly add the gold, silver or copper on top of the matte colors or completely cover the chipboard in a solid shimmer you have either option. Super cool. I could talk and talk and talk about this new product.

Actually I think I will talk some more about these… and tell you how we did our make n takes at CHA. We used the Maya Road Sheer Die Cut Sheets cut in 1/4’s and some Maya Road Chipboard Sets as masks. We used pages from several of the many Maya Road Chipboard Coaster Albums, placed one of the cut sheer sheet templates on top of the chipboard page, sprayed the Maya Mist Orange on top (hold about 6″ from the page for best overall coverage),  removed the Sheer Die Cut Sheet and sprayed the Maya Mist Metallic Gold on top of the masked chipboard page. It is beautiful.

Maya Mists Make n Take
(this photo was taken before adding the black outlines and white sharpie poster paint to the sheer blossom. My finished version image is lost in space.)

Then we added some embossed polka dots using the snap setting on a crop a dile to some Sheer Blossoms inked them using Ranger’s Alcohol Inks, added a Maya Road Button and some Trinkets Ribbon for the hanger and that was it… super easy and super fun. These would make really fun make n takes in your store to demo the products. Once the Maya Mists are compeletly dry you can then outline the designs on the chipboard using  the Inkssentials White Opaque Pen by Ranger (my absolute most favorite white pen ever) and a black pen. To fill in your embossed polka dots on your Sheer Blossom you can use a White Sharpie Poster Paint Pen and then accent it using some Crystal or Diamond Stickles.

In a few days I will post a make n take using a page from a Maya Road Chipboard Coaster with some pieces from a Maya Road Chipboard Set as a mask. Then I plan on posting some about me posts. While at CHA I realized most don’t really know the non-scrapper me so I thought it would be fun to do a few posts about some of my other hobbies and such.

Wishing you all a great day.

Boo…

October13

This has got to be the fastest card I have ever created… took me less than 20 min. The patterned papers and R. I. P. accent are from Daisy D’s 8 x 8 Halloween paper pack. I created the ghost using a Sheer Paisley by Maya Road. This little ghost was fun to make… all I did was add some wiggly eyes and a “Noah” rubon letter “O” for the mouth. The velvet ric rac is Midnight Black by Maya Road. These trims are seriously addicting. The colors are beautiful. The alphabet stickers are by Scenic Route. They are their Black Berkely Stickers. And you all know I could not complete a project without using Stickles… I coverd the word “BOO” using Black Diamond.

Happy Halloween

Have a great weekend.

5 Quick and Easy Chipboard Embellishments for any Project or Layout
By Lisa M. Pace

1. Crackle Effect. To create the crackled effect on chipboard I like to use Making Memories paint and DecoArt Weathered Wood Crackling Medium. First, paint your chipboard the color you want to peak through. In this example I used MM Lemon, Meadow, Daiquiri and Strawberries and Cream. Once the paint is dry, brush on the crackling medium making sure not to get too thin of a layer and set aside to dry, this will take a while 30 min. to an hour. Once your crackling medium has dried, lightly brush on your top coat of paint. I used MM Spotlight. Do not paint over the crackling medium more than once or you will paint over the cracks. Just lightly paint and move on to the next section. Once the paint has dried you can add Stickles or MM Glitter Glaze for a bit of bling or MM Clear Glaze if you want your letters to be shine.

2. Use chipboard as a stencil. Another thing I like to do is use the negative portion from chipboard as a stencil. Here I used the negative portion from a 12 x 12 sheet of chipboard to create this smoke embellishment. All you do is trace and cut out. This also makes for a great journaling embellishment.

Use chipboard as a stencil.

3. Create a vintage look. I also love anything with a vintage feel. This look is so easy to achieve. All I did was paint my Maya Road Scroll Corner with Making Memories Daiquiri paint. While still wet apply Making Memories Silver Glitter on top. Once dry just shake off the excess glitter and adhere to your project. Using any type of ledger paper seems to always give such a nice vintage feel. Here I used ledger paper by Making Memories. I cut out my hearts using Fiskars Pinking deco scissors and stamped the flower images with the new Journey East â€" Jasmine Clear Stamps by Maya Road and ColorBox Fluid Chalk Inks in Chestnut Roan and Creamy Brown.

4. Use your pens. Krylon pens are really fun to use on chipboard. In my diet coke layout I painted some Maya Road chipboard letters using Making Memories Cranberry paint. Once dry I outlined the letters using a Krylon Silver Leafing pen. Talk about super easy. Krylon pens are so easy to use and really add a great pop of color to any project.

Use your pens.

5. Make a layered flower. To recreate this flower you will need a Maya Road Coaster Chipboard Flower and a Blossoms II Chipboard Flower. Apply pattern paper to both chipboard flowers, using sand paper or the BasicGrey File Set (perfect for this project) sand edges of flowers to make the paper flush around the edges. Now trace the Coaster Chipboard Flower onto pattern paper and cut out slightly smaller than actual image. Crumple the cut out flower in your hands and lightly smooth out. Next, attach the crumpled flower to the top of your Maya Road Coaster Chipboard Flower. Now attach the Blossoms II Chipboard Flower on top of the crumpled flower and embellish the center of the Blossoms II Chipboard Flower with a button that has been threaded with fiber. If you want to add a bit of bling you can randomly place some Star Dust Stickles onto your flower or lightly edge the petals with glue and apply glitter.

Using Crackling Medium

Using Crackling Medium
By Lisa M. Pace

Supplies Needed: Acrylic Paints, DecoArt Weathered Crackling Medium, Paint Brush and chipboard (example is Maya Road Scroll Corners)

I have found that when using crackling medium, foam brushes are not as effective as using a paint brush.

  1. Choose your paint colors. In this example I am using Making Memories Pink Lipstick and Spotlight.
  2. Using your paint brush, paint your chipboard using the paint color you want to show through the cracks. I used Making Memories Pink Lipstick.

Crackling Medium Tutorial

  1. Set aside and allow to dry.
  2. Once the paint is dry, using your paint brush, apply DecoArt Weathered Crackling Medium over the painted surface.

Crackling Medium Tutorial

  1. Allow to dry completely. Depending on the thickness of your application and the humidity this can take from 15 min. to an hour. Please note: The thicker you apply the crackling medium the larger the cracks will be.
  2. Once your crackling medium is dry, using your paint brush, apply thin coats of paint using your second paint color. I used Making Memories Spotlight. You want just enough paint on your paint brush so that your brush will glide smoothly over the crackling medium. Do not go back over any of the wet paint. You will be painting over the crackle effect and the first paint color (Pink Lipstick) will not show. Just paint a section and move to the next.

  1. Once dry, adhere your finished embellishment to your project or layout.

You can paint over your dried crackled embellishment with any of the Making Memories Glazes, accent with rhinestones, buttons, Stickles, etc.

Have fun!
