Thanks for visiting!

Here is an ornament I created using lots of Maya Road product. First I painted a page from a Maya Road Sheer Snowflake Coaster Album using Spotlight Paint by Making Memories. Once dry, I completely covered the snowflake in Krystallos Shard Vintage Glass by Art Glitter. I LOVE any and everything by Art Glitter. Next, I covered a page from a Maya Road Chipboard Bird Coaster Album using BasicGrey patterned papers. Then I created a wing from a Maya Road Scroll Chipboard that has been painted and covered with Crackle Accents by Ranger. I painted two Maya Road Royalty Chipboard Crowns using a Metallic Gold Paint Dabber by Ranger. Then placed some Maya Road Velvet Blossom Trim in Rich Red in between the two crowns and attached the crown to the top of the birds head. I applied Gold Stickles by Ranger to the top of the front crown. To finish my bird I accented it using ribbons, lace and tags created from scraps. Once everything was dry I attached the bird to the snowflake (use a strong liquid glue or hot glue gun) and strung blue tulle through the top of the snowflake and tied it into a knot.

I think I am going to use rub ons to place the year on the star tag and then either a name or other holiday word on the other tag… just can’t seem to make up my mind quite yet.

A really quick project

March28

This project is so fun and is a total scraplift from Rachel Ludwig. When I saw her layout in the creating garden at 2Peas I knew I had to make one for my niece Madelyn. Rachel created hers using BasicGrey mini monograms. I created mine using Maya Road chipboard letters and hearts.

I love using crackling medium on chipboard and think it gave the piece a really nice shabby chic feel which is how Madelyn and soon to be Isabella Kate’s room is decorated.

I then added some Making Memories glitter glaze to give some added sparkle. The crown on Madelyn’s head is one of the new items from Heidi Swapp. If you like bling you like Heidi Swapp. I think the crown fits perfectly on Madelyn’s cute little head.

I’m presently working on a few projects that I cannot share. You will have to wait until they show up in a magazine or two. I do have a few challenges for Maya Road to complete. The Cocoa Daisy April kit will soon be on sale. I know you will want to see what Mou has created. She is our guest designer. I will be able to show you my layouts from the April kit in just a few days. So until then… happy creating and remember always savor the creative process.

A2Z has some really nice paper lines coming out and their hybrid layouts were incredible. They certainly have me interested in giving that a try.

Tomorrow I will post all the wonderful new products as well as the many projects that were on display in the Maya Road booth. That booth was jumping like mad. People were taking photos and placing orders right and left. It was a mad house at times. Loads of fun was had in that booth.

Altered Coaster

Santa Coaster

I LOVE these photos of Terri and my dad. She loves it when he wears his Father Christmas costume. One year he was in the Southern Living magazine for “Dickens on the Strand” in Galveston, Texas. I will have to find the issue to show you. Anyway, I thought it would be nice to create an altered coaster using the Blitzen line by BasicGrey. I think the papers go perfectly. I love creating anything in miniature form. I don’t know what it is that draws me to that size but I always think in miniature first. Isn’t that teeny tiny jingle bell just too cute on this coaster!
To recreate this coaster you will need the following supplies:

  • Chipboard Coaster
  • Pattern Paper
  • Stickers (letters)
  • Fluid Chalk Ink (Chestnut Roan)
  • Colluzzle (tree)
  • Fibers
  • Button
  • Embellishments (jingle bell, charm, Clip)
  • Mini Card (cut to appropriate size)

Have fun and remember, if you recreate this or any of my projects please send me a photo so I can start a gallery of inspiration.
