DT Call and Sneak Peek…

If you are new here you might consider subscribing to my latest updates to this site, by RSS feed or via email:

Thanks for visiting!

Here is a little sneak peek of a mini project I created for Tricia at Cocoa Daisy. This mini project kit will be available in May. Of course it has lots of Maya Road because honestly… I can never have enough Maya Road, glitter (I know big shocker) and patterned papers from Graphic 45. Man do I LOVE these papers.

May Mini Project Kit for Cocoa Daisy

Also Tricia is holding a “Spring 2008 Design Team Call”. Here is all the info for those of you who might want to try out.

Cocoa Daisy is looking to add two very talented, creative and motivated scrapbook artists to join our design team, the Daisy Divas. Our design team is made up of dedicated scrapbookers with the ability to create stunning layouts and projects using products in unique and unexpected ways. We are looking for design team members who will be very present on the Cocoa Daisy site (both on the message board and in the gallery) and will actively promote the site elsewhere.

We are fine with design team members holding positions with manufacturers or stores. However, we ask that if you wish to be a part of Cocoa Daisy that you are not involved with other companies that create kits. The design team call will run from April 22nd through May 12th. We will announce winners on May 20th. The term will be from June through November 2008.

Application
Here’s what you need to do to apply:
Send an email to mailbox@cocoadaisy.com with “DT Call” in the subject line. In the
email please include the following:

1. Name
2. Contact information
3. Your username in the Cocoa Daisy gallery
4. A link to your online blog, resume or gallery
5. A short bio about yourself that includes a description of your scrapbook style
6. Any design teams you are currently on or have been on in the past
7. How you would fit on the Cocoa Daisy team
8. Any ideas you have for increasing gallery and message board participation and otherwise enhancing the Cocoa Daisy web site.

And of course, we would love to see your work! Please create a Sub-Album in our gallery under “Design Team Call” album, and upload at least 3 of your favorite layouts — these must include at least one 12 x 12 and one 8 ½ x 11 layout.

We also ask that you create a layout specifically for this call. We would like to see what you consider to be the perfect kit. There are many takes on this and we want to see what your creative mind can come up with! You can tell us about your favorite manufacturers, your favorite products, what you think would enhance Cocoa Daisy’s future kits, suggestions on what you think we should include in a kit, or your unique vision of a kit.

This is your chance to really let your own style shine through!

Design Team Perks
As a member of the Daisy Divas you will receive a free kit each month, discounts on addons and passes to industry tradeshows. We appreciate all the hard work of our design team so you can also expect to receive periodic gifts as well.

Expectations
Each month we would like you to create at least 3 layouts (either 12 x 12 or 8 ½ x 11) and either an additional layout or a project. All should highlight the Cocoa Daisy monthly kit in addition to your unique style.

We also expect active participation on the message board and in our gallery as well.

Should you have any questions please email us at mailbox@cocoadaisy.com

Good luck to those of you that try out. Tricia is wonderful to design for and her team is great.

Butterfly Frame…

Here is a little kit I put together this afternoon using patterned paper by Rhonna Farrer, Butterflies by Maya Road and a frame I picked up while shopping. The kit includes everything needed to recreate this project. Optional supplies are Diamond Stickles and Chestnut Roan Fluid Chalk Ink. It includes step by step instructions with color photos for you to download after purchase. Sorry for the glare. I guess I should have taken the glass off when I was photographing the piece.

Just playin when I should be workin…

I really need to be working on some mini albums right now for an assignment but I saw this frame, then found this bird, then remembered about this vintage sheet music and well… you can see what happened. Before I knew it… there was paint and glitter flying all over my scraproom. I plan on putting a monogram on the tag as soon as I figure out who is gonna get this little pretty. This piece can sit on an easel or hang. I love all the sparkly glitter. Glitter makes me so happy as well as creating ribbon flowers. I just can’t seem to make enough of these. They add such a soft feel to projects.

I have had several stores contact me to teach. It makes me so happy to know people like my work well enough to want me to visit. So I might be visiting a store near you soon. I must say teaching makes me so happy. Watching people have fun, learn new techniques (my classes are very technique based classes) and see the light bulb go off when they realize they can stretch their creative process and enjoy it. I even like kitting. I know you are wondering what is up with that but seeing all the products put together knowing people are excited to create the project gets me excited.

Hope you all have a great day. It is gorgeous here today. It wasn’t so great last night though. Grapefruit sized hail is not fun. Thankfully we missed that but poor Fort Worth was blasted with every sized ball shaped hail you can imagine.

Just a little pretty…

A few weeks ago I went with Caroline to The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie. Well Carolyn gave us a little demonstration using some Ten Seconds Studio products. My project was very simple compared to Caroline’s as I created a simple little altered heart. I wanted to use mine as a base for a project and well here is what I came up with. I think Ten Seconds Studio and Maya Road are a perfect combination. The base of the wall hanging is a page from a Maya Road 2-Ring Heart Chipboard Book, the scroll is from their new Scrolls II Chipboard Sets (LOVE THESE) the smaller heart is a page from their Heart Coaster Album and the flowers are their new Trinkets Velvet Pleat Blossoms and you know I love these!

As much as I am trying to fight not needing another medium to jump into well I cannot fight off this one anymore. I am so hooked. This craft is fun and easy… as long as you have the right tools that is… so any of you who are thinking about trying some metal work jump in and give it a go.

Thanks so much…

to all of you who purchased my kits. I cannot believe the response. They are all going postal today. So be on the lookout for them in the next few days. Those of you that are international more like 2 weeks. I tell ya I have an entirely new respect for all you kit club owners out there. I thought coming up with new a kit each month was hard enough well… add on packing orders, double checking the orders and mailing the orders is a HUGE ordeal. Talk about stress. I don’t know how you all do it month after month after month but I am clapping and bowing to you all.

My dear friend Patti found the punch of all punches. I have searched high and low for Fiskars new “THREADING WATER” scallop border punch and I’m so happy to say she found one and is mailing it to me. I am so doing the happy dance. I plan on doing a tutorial creating all kinds of fun things with this punch. That will be posted sometime next week.

Sorry for the lack of projects and photos. Everything I have been working on has been for assignments and I can’t share. I think that is the hardest thing for me to do… not share. If you have any questions on techniques leave a comment regarding one and I will try my best to put up a tutorial. This weekend I hope to get out and take some photos since everything in Frisco is in full bloom. But first thing tomorrow my friend Lisa and I are going to reorganize my scraproom. It needs a major overhaul. So if I don’t post for a few days considered me buried under scrap supplies and send help.

Wishing you all a great weekend.
