in the house. I get to talk to Martha Stewart Tuesday, May 8th live on her show! That is as long as my phone conversation doesn’t get bumped as told to me via the producer. I’m a nervous wreck. I have loved Martha since the 80’s and can’t believe I get to talk to her about the layout I entered in her contest. I saw her at CHA-W in Anaheim. She actually walked past me twice. I’m sure I looked extremely intelligent with my eyes popping out of my head and my mouth wide open! Anyway, Karen will be calling me either Saturday or Monday to go over what I’m supposed to do and how it all works. Thank goodness the call will be around 9 a.m. central time as my heart could not take waiting all day long, Tuesday. I’m hardly hanging in there now. I sent Karen a photo and a paragraph about me and my layout and now I just need to come up with a “Good Thing Tip” for scrapbooking to share on the show. I’m gonna have to write stuff down and have it handy. I have a feeling my mind is gonna go completely blank when I hear Martha’s voice. And so that I know where it is at all times I am going to attach it to my body right next to my cell phone. I have had my cell phone basically glued to me since I got my first call from Karen Sunday evening and MISSED IT! That was torture waiting for her to call back.
Well today besides thinking about Martha all day long I’m going to take my brother-in-law Dougie to the airport, work on some projects and try to not go to Celebrity Cafe and Bakery to eat their fabulous coconut ice box pie! Nothing settles the nerves better than a great coconut creme pie!
Have a great day.

first man did we have some bad storms last night here in Frisco. We were without electricity for 7 hours. A portion of our fence was knocked down and our neighbors trampoline (they live 3 houses down) ended up in our backyard. Alan and I are amazed that it didn’t knock down that portion of our fence. All it did was break a few slats. Some areas of Dallas will be without electricity for a week.
I have been playing with some alcohol inks by Ranger and must say Ranger + Maya Road = pure delight! Look at how pretty these Sheer Blossoms look inked and accented with glass glitter. I will be using these for a project I’m working on for CHA-S.

I will be hosting a RAK for Maya Road. So get ready for a challenge to win some great products. I will have a photo of the RAK soon.Wishing you all a great day.

5 Quick and Easy Chipboard Embellishments for any Project or Layout
By Lisa M. Pace
1. Crackle Effect. To create the crackled effect on chipboard I like to use Making Memories paint and DecoArt Weathered Wood Crackling Medium. First, paint your chipboard the color you want to peak through. In this example I used MM Lemon, Meadow, Daiquiri and Strawberries and Cream. Once the paint is dry, brush on the crackling medium making sure not to get too thin of a layer and set aside to dry, this will take a while 30 min. to an hour. Once your crackling medium has dried, lightly brush on your top coat of paint. I used MM Spotlight. Do not paint over the crackling medium more than once or you will paint over the cracks. Just lightly paint and move on to the next section. Once the paint has dried you can add Stickles or MM Glitter Glaze for a bit of bling or MM Clear Glaze if you want your letters to be shine.

2. Use chipboard as a stencil. Another thing I like to do is use the negative portion from chipboard as a stencil. Here I used the negative portion from a 12 x 12 sheet of chipboard to create this smoke embellishment. All you do is trace and cut out. This also makes for a great journaling embellishment.

3. Create a vintage look. I also love anything with a vintage feel. This look is so easy to achieve. All I did was paint my Maya Road Scroll Corner with Making Memories Daiquiri paint. While still wet apply Making Memories Silver Glitter on top. Once dry just shake off the excess glitter and adhere to your project. Using any type of ledger paper seems to always give such a nice vintage feel. Here I used ledger paper by Making Memories. I cut out my hearts using Fiskars Pinking deco scissors and stamped the flower images with the new Journey East – Jasmine Clear Stamps by Maya Road and ColorBox Fluid Chalk Inks in Chestnut Roan and Creamy Brown.

4. Use your pens. Krylon pens are really fun to use on chipboard. In my diet coke layout I painted some Maya Road chipboard letters using Making Memories Cranberry paint. Once dry I outlined the letters using a Krylon Silver Leafing pen. Talk about super easy. Krylon pens are so easy to use and really add a great pop of color to any project.

5. Make a layered flower. To recreate this flower you will need a Maya Road Coaster Chipboard Flower and a Blossoms II Chipboard Flower. Apply pattern paper to both chipboard flowers, using sand paper or the BasicGrey File Set (perfect for this project) sand edges of flowers to make the paper flush around the edges. Now trace the Coaster Chipboard Flower onto pattern paper and cut out slightly smaller than actual image. Crumple the cut out flower in your hands and lightly smooth out. Next, attach the crumpled flower to the top of your Maya Road Coaster Chipboard Flower. Now attach the Blossoms II Chipboard Flower on top of the crumpled flower and embellish the center of the Blossoms II Chipboard Flower with a button that has been threaded with fiber. If you want to add a bit of bling you can randomly place some Star Dust Stickles onto your flower or lightly edge the petals with glue and apply glitter.

my niece Madelyn LOVES this mechanical horse outside of La Hacienda here in Frisco. Oh by the way they have the best Mexican food. Madelyn’s laughs and giggles were so contagious that we were all laughing with her. So this was a perfect photo for the monthly “Giggle” theme on ScrapGal.

The photo of Terri and Ansley was taken Easter Sunday. Those two were so funny in between photos. They had me laughing so hard as it was just a tad bit cold and windy outside. But it was gorgeous and they tolerated another photo session.
I have started to work on some Maya Road projects for CHA-S and some Art Warehouse layouts using the new Fresh line. Talk about a great line. I love the colors. They are perfect for Easter, Spring, Summer, Girly Girl or Beach layout, mini albums or projects. This collection is so versatile and very inspiring.
